Independent Study
This is a program developed to help students make-up for past mistakes and back credit. Each student is given a binder equal to 1/2 credit or1 credit of work that they have an active system to complete. The subject matter for the binder is determined by what area of the curriculum the student is lacking for graduation requirements.
The binders available for make-up credit include:
All levels of Math, Science, Psychology, Physiology, World History, English,
If a student doesn't complete a binder within the given semester time the student fails the Independent study course and is not welcome back the following semester. On the other hand if a student completes a binder with time left they can continue a second, third, forth, etc. The power to make up for past mistakes in previous years is in the students hands.
The class is primarily taken at home. For the beginning of the semester the students must report o the assigned classroom for period 6-1:30p.m. Only after a student has proved him/herself by being on time and working on the binder will the teacher allow them "check in" status. This means that the student must only check in each week to show the progress that has been made, at any time the check-in status can be revoked and the student must attend period 6 again.
The Independent Study program is the best way for students to make up credits, yet you get what you put in. If you put in the dedication and time then you get to graduate.
